Dalal Haldeman’s professional life has always been defined by a deep connection to people, married with a passion for and an understanding and appreciation of science. Whether creating a first-of-its-kind nutrition program in the Middle East or heading the marketing and communications department of the hospital longest ranked #1 by U.S. News & World Report, Haldeman seeks to employ evidence-based best practices coupled with the values of thoughtful and principled leadership to create greater compassion at work, better quality in the delivery of health care, and increased engagement and efficiency among the people delivering that care.
Formerly the senior vice president for marketing and communications for Johns Hopkins Medicine, Haldeman was the first person to hold that role. Prior to that, she served in leadership posts at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, Sterling Health Capital Management, the MetroHealth System and the University of Pittsburgh. Haldeman earned a Ph.D. in food science and nutrition from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business Administration at Cleveland State University. She has held several academic appointments, including faculty appointments at the American University of Beirut, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Pittsburgh. She also led the development of the first American Dietetic Association-accredited nutrition program in the Middle East and conducted government briefings and workshops aimed at managing obesity and improving the nutrition and health of children.
Haldeman is the recipient of several e-strategy and communications awards, has presented at numerous national and international meetings, and continues to serve on various local and national boards. She is married to Glenn Haldeman. They have one daughter, who is a veterinarian.
